But with the rich at His death,
Because He had done no violence,
Nor was any deceit in His mouth. (Isaiah 53:9)

Buried with the Rich Fulfillment

It was the Roman custom to throw crucified bodies to the dogs. But Joseph of Arimathea, a rich man and a secret disciple of Jesus, asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Pilate permitted him and Joseph took the body away.

Witnesses Joseph Of Arimathea And Nicodemus

Then Nicodemus, who was also a secret believer, came openly with myrrh and aloes. They covered Jesus’ body with spices and bound it with clean linen cloths.

Then they placed His body into Joseph’s tomb, which he had recently cut into the rock. Afterward, they rolled a large stone across the entrance of the tomb.

The day after Preparation Day, the Jewish leaders went to Pilate and said that Jesus had claimed He would arise from the dead after three days.

Therefore they asked for the tomb to be guarded until the third day. Otherwise, His disciples might steal the body and deceive the people, claiming that Jesus had risen from the dead.

Pilate agreed to their request and told them to go and secure the tomb. So they sealed the stone across the entrance and put soldiers there to guard it.
