Job 34: A Young Man’s Defense Of God’s Perfect Justice

Job 34: A Young Man’s Defense Of God’s Perfect Justice

Job 34:1 Furthermore Elihu answered and said,

Job 34:2 Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.

Job 34:3 For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.

Job 34:4 Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.

Job 34:5 For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.

Job 34:6 Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression,

Job 34:7 What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?

Job 34-8

Job 34:9 For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.

Job 34:10 Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.

Job 34:11 For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways

Job 34:12 Yeah, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.

Job 34:13 Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed of the whole world?

Job 34:14 If he set his heart upon man if he gathers unto himself his spirit and his breath;

Job 34:15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.

Job 34:16 If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.

Job 34:17 Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just?

Job 34:18 It fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly?

Job 34:19 How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.

Job 34:20 In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.

Job 34-21

Job 34:22 There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

Job 34:23 For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God.

Job 34:24 He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.

Job 34:25 Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night so that they are destroyed.

Job 34:26 He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;

Job 34:27 Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:

Job 34:28 So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry ofthe afflicted.

Job 34:29 When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

Job 34:30 That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.

Job 34:31 Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:

Job 34:32 That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.

Job 34-33

Job 34:34 Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me.

Job 34:35 Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.

Job 34:36 My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men.

Job 34:37 For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.

Job 35:1 Elihu spake moreover, and said

Job 35:2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?

Job 35:3 For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?

Job 35:4 I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.

Job 34:5 Look unto the heavens, and see, and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.

Job 35:6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?

Job 35:7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

Job 35:8 Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art, and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

Job 35-9

Job 35:10 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

Job 35:11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

Job 35:12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

Job 35:13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

Job 35:14 Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.

Job 35:15 But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:

Job 35:16 Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.

Job 36:5 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.

Job 36:6 He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.

Job 36:7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them forever, and they are exalted.

Job 36:8 And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;

Job 36-9

Job 36:10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

Job 36:11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasure.

Job 36:12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

Job 36:13 But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.

Job 36:14 They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.

Job 36:15 He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.

Job 36:16 Even so, would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.

Job 36:17 But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.

Job 36:18 Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with Ms stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.

Job 36:19 Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.

Job 36-20

Job 36:21 Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.

Job 36:22 Behold, God exalted by his power: who teacheth like him?

Job 36:23 Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?

Job 36:24 Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.

Job 36:25 Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.

Job 36:26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.

Job 36:27 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:

Job 36-29

Daniel 5:3 Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out ofthe temple ofthe house ofGod which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.

Daniel 5:4 They drank wine and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

Daniel 5:5 In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part ofthe hand that wrote.

Daniel 5:6 Then the king’s countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.

Daniel 5:7 The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

Daniel 5:10 Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live forever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:

Daniel 5:11 There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;

Daniel 5:12 Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

Daniel 5:13 Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?

Daniel 5

Daniel 5:15 And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing:

Daniel 5:17 Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet 1 will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

Daniel 5:18 O thou king, the highest God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honor:

Daniel 5:19 And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.

Daniel 5:20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

Daniel 5:21 And he was driven from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the highest God ruled in the kingdom of men and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

Daniel 5:22 And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;

Daniel 5:23 But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:

Daniel 5:24 Then was part of the hand sent from him, and this writing was written.

Daniel 5:25 And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

Daniel 5:26 This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

Daniel 5:27 TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

Daniel 5:28 PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

Daniel 5:29 Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

Daniel 6:3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes because an excellent spirit was in him, and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

Daniel 6:4 Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom, but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

Daniel 6:7 All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counselors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

Daniel 6:12 Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law ofthe Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

Daniel 6:13 Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

Daniel 6:14 Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he labored till the going down of the sun to deliver him.

Daniel 6

Daniel 6:15 Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law ofthe Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.

Daniel 6:16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. JVow the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.

Daniel 6:17 And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.

Daniel 6:18 Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.

Daniel 6:19 Then the king arose very early in the morning and went in haste unto the den of lions.

Daniel 6:20 And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?

Daniel 6:21 Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live forever.

Daniel 6:22 My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.

Daniel 6:23 Then was the king exceeding glad for him and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him because he believed in his God.

Daniel 6:24 And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom ofthe den.

Daniel 6:25 Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

Daniel 6:26 I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom, men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and steadfast forever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.

Daniel 6:27 He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in the earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

Daniel 6:28 So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
